City of New Haven: Office of Economic Development

The mission of the City of New Haven’s Office of Economic Development is to advance New Haven as a modern, world-class city, by attracting commercial development, supporting business expansion, and enhancing employment.  The Fellow will participate in all aspects of multidisciplinary community redevelopment projects in several of New Haven’s diverse neighborhoods.  He or she will work with Economic Development staff to design, initiate, coordinate, and complete interdepartmental projects, as appropriate, that will enhance those communities’ commercial, infrastructural, environmental, and recreational attractiveness.

Elmseed Enterprise Fund

The Elmseed Enterprise Fund is a non-profit organization that provides business training courses, technical assistance, and individualized consulting to local entrepreneurs seeking to start or expand small businesses in the New Haven area. Its student volunteer team aims to empower entrepreneurs who lack the resources necessary to act on their business goals. Elmseed is committed to encouraging and enabling sustainable economic self-reliance in the greater New Haven area. The Fellow will continue to uphold and provide all of the services and products Elmseed offers during the regular school year. This includes maintaining ongoing working relationships with clients, as well as taking on new clients and other associated projects.
